the zenitar acts as a wide angle on any digital slr nikon. but if you use a film slr nikon you get the fisheye effect. but if your going for a wide angle i would highly recommend on getting it.

I'm a London based still life advertising photographer with forty years experience. This is an excellent multicoated lens for the price. Stop down to between f5.6-f16 and the quality is great. Use a little sharpening on Photoshop. Remember this folks: nearly all modern prime lenses from the mid-sixties on produce astonishing image quality across their entire aperture range. (I can read an MTF chart by the way!). Unless you own an optical bench and know how to use it ,particularly if your final product is a print, you will have extreme difficulty in determining the difference in quality between say a Minolta prime from the sixties and a modern Leica equivalent. All credit to the lens manufacturers but remember great shots are not dependent on lens quality.

Hey, I'm from Russia. Considering this lense as a cheap addition to my Pentax. It may be interesting for you to know that Zenitar is made in Russia, not in Ukraine or Belarus. The factory (Zenit TM) is situated in Moscow suburbs (Krasnogorsk town). All goods sold through dealers are under full warranty. So I can only recommend to buy from known sellers which are able to provide warranty service. Take care. Alex.

Brian -- I don't think I paid any duty. The lens shipped straight from the Ukraine.

Seven, your best bet is to view Eric's review of the lens.

Looking through the viewfinder, the images did appear out of focus, and reviewing the images on the computer confirmed this fact.

After I tweaked the lens, the image is noticeably clearer in the viewfinder.

Hi, what did you see through the viewfinder before you fixed your lens? Were images – at least apparently – on focus?
Many thanks.
